Not unlike the English Georgian architecture that was developed in America during the reign of King George III - a design which captured the spirit of the American Revolution - the American Adventure combines Georgian-style classic buildings in an historical representation of a people's mansion, using examples from Williamsburg, Independence Hall, the Old State House in Boston, and Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello.
As one of 11 different nations represented at World Showcase, the American Adventure pavilion offers a multi-media presentation that captures the essence of American history. Disney uses huge movable sets, film clips and animatronic depictions of significant historical figures like Ben Franklin and Mark Twain to make history spring to life.
The American Adventure is the ultimate in Epcot's learning-is-fun attractions. The animatronic figures are eerily accurate and keep the smaller children enthralled, while the historical significance appeals to the older crowd. Although the presentation is 30 minutes in length, there's rarely a dull moment. In the afternoon heat, you'll probably wish that this seated, air-conditioned attraction was a bit longer.
