This 3-D movie teeming with Muppet humor and special effects is one of the most enjoyable attractions at MGM. The presentation opens up with a 12-minute pre-show which gives humorous clues to what audiences can expect in the show to come. The interior of the theater is designed exactly like the one from "The Muppet Show" television series. And yes, those cynical old quibblers, Statler and Waldorf, are sitting in the balcony spewing commentary during the entire show.
The overall 25-minute production boasts a lot more than 3-D effects, as there are appearances by live Muppet characters, fireworks, and more. The show is produced from Muppet Labs and is presided over by Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his wacky assistant Beaker. A new character is also introduced - Waldo, the "Spirit of 3-D." Highlights of the show include an interesting solo by Miss Piggy, and a chaotic food fight with vegetables that culminates with a cannon blast to the screen from the rear balcony, courtesy of the hilarious Swedish Chef.
