Based on the extremely popular film series "Star Wars," this motion simulator ride is a favorite among visitors of all ages. Though the ride centers on technology that can seem a bit outdated, especially when compared to the "Back to the Future" ride, Star Tours still packs more punch and excitement than its time-traveling counterpart, and this trip to outer space is highly recommended.
Before you board your flight, you will find yourself waiting in a very entertaining area, filled to the brim with all kinds of memorabilia from the film trilogy and the recent revival film, "Star Wars: Episode One." Even beloved Yoda is there to keep the force with you. Perhaps designers were thinking ahead in creating such an entertaining lobby, because the wait can be quite extensive at times. But in the end it is definitely worth it.
The basic premise of the ride: you and 39 friends jump on a ship called the Star Speeder, which is supposed to take you to the moon of Endor, a Star Wars locale. Unfortunately for you, the craft is being piloted by the bumbling androids C-3PO and R2D2. Before you know it, you're flying aimlessly through the dark reaches of outer space, narrowly missing space debris. Then, you suddenly find yourself in the middle of a war. Finally, your two inept colleagues in the cockpit manage to bring the Speeder down in a canyon, averting what seemed like certain death.
This is definitely a must-see for all Star Wars fans, as well as youngsters who aren't familiar with the films. The ride is suitable for most children, so long as they're warned ahead of time that they might get jerked around a bit. For best results, go first thing in the morning or right before closing time.
