Visitors to MGM Studios cannot mistake this towering structure ominously looming over Sunset Boulevard and much of the rest of the park. The Tower of Terror reputedly was once the Hollywood Tower Hotel, now deserted and haunted by ghosts. Guests enter the structure via the dimly lighted lobby, then tiptoe their way through the eerie library, on past the spooky boiler room, and then to the giant elevator which they must board to see the rest of the building.
As the elevator rises from floor to floor guests are met with deserted hallways, and are often greeted by many of the former tenants of the hotel - their ghosts, that is. The elevator creeks upward until, suddenly, the boxcar abruptly plunges downward and passengers become the victims of a terrifying 130-foot free-fall, only to have the elevator reach bottom, then travel upwards one more time to drop again. Expect some long lines.
